Ahead of the Munugode by election, tension prevailed in the region, after the convoy of Mr. Eatala Rajender, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attacked.

On the 1st of November, Tuesday, the Huzurabad MLA Mr. Eatala Rajender visited Munugode and campaigned for the BJP.  On the final day of the campaign, Mr. Eatala Rajender visited the Palivela region in the Munugodu constituency, when his convoy was allegedly attacked by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members.  However, the BJP cadre promptly attacked in response to the attack. 

In retaliation, the BJP workers present at the time attacked the TRS leaders, leading to a clash and stone pelting.  During the clash, a gunman of Mr. Eatala Rajender was reportedly injured and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Soon the Munugode Police reached the spot and controlled the situation, preventing any serious violent incident.  

Meanwhile, after the resignation of Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy from the Indian National Congress(INC) and the MLA seat of Munugode constituency, the seat fell vacant, paving way for by election.  Three major political parties; the TRS, the BJP and the INC along with 127 other candidates are in the fray to win the Munugode by election, scheduled on the 3rd of November.

Moreover, the result of the awaited by election would be announced on the 6th of November.
