Microsoft is set to establish their largest data centre in Hyderabad, India.  On the 7th of March, Monday, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology Minister of Telangana and Microsoft representative, jointly, addressed a press conference and announced to establish data center with an investment of Rs. 15,000 crores.

According to sources, Microsoft would make investment over a period of 15 years into the new data center, spread covering three sites of Hyderabad region, Chandanvelly, Ellikatta  and Kottur.  As of now, Microsoft has its development center in Hyderabad, which is also its second largest center in the world, the first one is headquartered in the United States of America (U.S.A.)  

During the press conference, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Principal Secretary of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication ( ITE&C,) Mr. Jayesh Ranjan were present.  The event was also attended by Microsoft’s Executive Vice President Mr. Jean Philippe Courtois and Microsoft India President Mr. Anant Maheshwari.

Taking pride in the IT growth in Hyderabad with Microsoft center, KTR said, “This will be one of the largest FDIs (foreign direct investment)  that Telangana has attracted; Will indirectly support local business growth and facilitate job creation across IT operations, facilities management, data and network security, network engineering and much more.”   He further said, “Microsoft and Telangana go a long way back with Hyderabad hosting one of the largest Microsoft offices in the world and I am happy to see the relationship grow.”

Meanwhile Mr. Anant Maheshwari said, “The new data center will augment Microsoft’s cloud capabilities and capacity to support those working across the country.  It will also support new entrepreneurial opportunities while meeting critical security and compliance needs.  The new data center region is a testament to our mission to empower the people and organizations of India to achieve more.”

With the new Microsoft data centre establishment, advanced data security and cloud solutions would be delivered easily helping enterprises, start-ups, developers, education, and government institutions.

In addition, with this new data center, Microsoft would have four establishments in India, as three are existing centers in Pune, Mumbai and Chennai, operational for over 5 years.
