On the 25th of March, the Hyderabad Police announced the closure of liquor shops in the City.   The decision was taken in the wake of Holi festival, on the 28th and the 29th of March.

Anjani Kumar, the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Hyderabad said, the wine shops of Hyderabad would remain close from 6:00 A.M., of the 28th of March, till 6:00 A.M., of the 30th of March. The Telangana Police asked all the shop owners in the City to cooperate with them and shut their shops in the announced time. 

In the orders released, the Commissioner of Police asked the public not to cause inconvenience to others and avoid playing with colours on roads.

Restrictions were also imposed on vehicles roaming in groups. On the other hand, all the cattle slaughter houses would also remain closed on Holi within the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).  The GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar asked the concerned officials to instruct all respective officers to extend necessary cooperation to the municipal staff in carrying out the orders.
