After several political leaders, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Minister Mr. K.T. Rama Rao also expressed condolences to the families of the farmers who died in the recent Lakhimpur incident.

On the morning of the 5th of October, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the TRS and the Municipal Administration Minister took to Twitter and said, “Shocked & Horrified to see the ruthless & cold blooded murder of farmers in #Lakhimpur_Kheri of Uttar Pradesh.”

Mr. K.T. Rama Rao expressed condolences and hoped for strict punishment for the culprit and Justice for the eight people including four farmers who died. This is the first time, the Telangana Government spoke about the incident and expressed their views regarding the murder of farmers in Lakhimpur, Khera.

On the 3rd of October, eight people were killed after a SUV driven by Ashish Mishra Teni ( the son of Mr. Ajay Mishra Teni, the Union Home Minister for Uttar Pradesh) ran over them. The incident not only sparked tension amongst protesting farmers but also gave political mileage to the opposition, demanding strict action against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader’s son, who is responsibile for the murder.

Leaders of parties like the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM,) the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) the Samajwadi Party (SP,) the Political leaders from Punjab, Haryana and other regions also expressed condolences to the farmers and lobbed criticism at the U.P., Government. The major reason behind the incident getting the media attention is the killing of farmers, who were protesting against the Central Government’s three farm laws.

The death of farmers because of a political leader’s son has given a boost to the SKM, who are protesting against the ruling BJP Government of India.

In addition, the opposition parties who are going to contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2022 are also taking advantage of the incident to gain attention and criticise the ruling BJP Government.

Meanwhile, the BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh Government is trying to control the situation.

The matter is under investigation and a judgement is expected soon.
