Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, on the 2nd of May, Tuesday, launched an application, ensuring safety of travelers.

Designed by Mr. Akhil Mahajan, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sircilla, the ‘Safe Auto’ app would ensure the safety of commuters.  The application was launched during the closing ceremony of District Police Games at Sircilla Mini Stadium.

While launching the application, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao appreciated the district police system for implementing “Safe Auto” enhancing the safety and comfort to the passengers traveling in auto rickshaws and cabs in Sircilla.

How does this ‘Safe Auto’ app work?

As per sources, the application would collect the necessary documents and information from the vehicle owners of auto rickshaws and cab services in the district and digitize the collated information in the form of QR code.  While traveling in an auto, when scanning the QR Code printed on the auto, the driver’s photo and details of the vehicle will be displayed along with three types of options namely Emergency Call or Text, Emergency Complaint and Rating.

When you respond in the form of an emergency call or text to any situation that a passenger feels unsafe, the live location of the vehicle passenger traveling in will go to the command and control centre, following which police would be alerted.

Later, one can also file a complaint if the driver misbehaves with the passengers, in case of rash driving, drunk and drive, hit and run through the app.

This unique app would help riders and commuters to create a safe environment for auto rickshaws and cabs, leading to less accidents, harassment cases, drunk and drive and safety of commuters, especially women.
