The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is preparing for the upcoming Graduate Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections in full swing.

As a part of the MLC election campaign, K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the TRS addressed graduates at a meeting in Hyderabad. On the 8th of March, KTR said, the TRS Government spent Rs. 12,800 crores towards fee reimbursement to students since 2014 excluding accumulated arrears of Rs.1,800 crores. He said the Telangana Government always promoted education and worked for quality education.

The K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government also focuses on generating employment opportunities for the youth. He said under the TS-iPASS, industrial permits were issued to 15,000 companies that resulted in 15 lakh new jobs.

KTR Highlighted the progress of the education department in Telangana under Chief Minister KCR. He said apart from setting up Gurukul schools, the State Government also established many educational institutes including 53 degree, 11 polytechnic and five medical colleges. Study circles were set up in all the districts to help students appearing for competitive examinations. The establishment of study circles resulted in at least 5,000 youth landing jobs in civil services and other government sectors.

Mr. Rao said, “No other State can match Telangana in extending assistance to students to pursue higher education abroad under the Overseas Scholarships programme. Over 3,850 students have benefitted from the programme so far.” KTR said, the TRS Government spent Rs. 250 crores on the scholarship programme alone.

The State also filled about 19,200 teacher posts among the 1.33 lakh vacancies. K.T. Rama Rao said, “Despite filling 1.33 lakh government jobs, the Congress (Indian National Congress) and the (Bharatiya Janata Party) BJP are often indulging in mudslinging against the Government over recruitments.”he said.

Speaking about the growth of education in the past six years, Mr. Rao said Telangana made rapid strides in development and bagged international accolades. However, the Central Government is not extending the required support for future vision and growth. He criticised the BJP led Central Government for its discrimination against the State in different sectors, but also not lending a helping hand even in the field of education.

He said IIMs, IIITs, ITIRs, medical colleges were announced for the rest of India, not a single institute was allocated to Telangana.

He raised a question at the meeting and asked, “Is this the Saab ka saath, Saab ka vikas? Is this the Team India spirit being promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi?”

Concluding yesterday’s (the 8th of March) meeting, Mr. Rama Rao urged the graduates to elect TRS candidate S. Vani Devi in the MLC election from the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahabubnagar MLC graduates constituency. He said,

“There is a notion that literates do not cast their votes in elections and this has to change.”

The Graduate Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections 2021 has become a huge matter for Telangana. After recent by elections and Municipal elections, there is a tough fight between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

With every passing day, the TRS and the BJP are working hard to gain maximum votes and win the Graduate MLC elections.

From the TRS, S. Vani Devi, the daughter of P.V. Narsimha Rao, the former Prime Minister of India, filed nomination and from the BJP Ramachander Rao filed the nomination.

As many as 257 candidates would be in fray for Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar (179) and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituencies (78.) The two Teacher’s MLC posts are important, as the winning graduate MLC would cover 75 of the 119 assemblies.

The elections for two MLCs seats would be held on the 14th of March.
