K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development, on the 19th of December, held a review meeting. 

During the meeting Mr. Rao assured free drinking water to each and every family in Hyderabad by 2021 January.

KTR said as per the direction of K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, families would get free drinking water of 20,000 litres per month.

The meeting was held at Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad.

KTR directed all the officials to take up all the necessary arrangements to begin the programme. He asked the officials to prepare a draft plan on the total tap connections, arrangements for the water supply and finish work in the next two weeks.

Mr. Rao said, “For the last few years, the need for drinking water has been rising. The government’s focus on providing basic amenities to the people in the last five years helped to meet the public demand for water.”

Meanwhile, the officials also said that a plan is being prepared to avoid the scarcity of water next summer.

The meeting was attended by Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana and officials of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB.)
