The Telangana Police arrested E. Ashwathama Reddy, the Convenor of the Joint Action Committee, while he was trying to conduct the ‘Chalo Tank Bund’ rally.

On the 9th of November, the Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and the JAC organised a march from the Tank Bund, Hyderabad.

The march was planned to protest against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government as the Government did not agree to the demands of the TSRTC employees.  Approximately 48,000 employees participated in the march.

The Telangana Police were alert in the Tank Bund area and three layered security was arranged.  Barricades were installed to prevent the public from entering the area.

The Police are also trying to prevent opposition parties’ leaders and TSRTC workers from conducting the march.

As of now, there is no sign of the TRS or the TSRTC employees being ready to compromise or negotiate.  While the TSRTC employees demanded the TSRTC be merged with the State Government, the TRS is adamant about its decision not to merge the TSRTC and the TRS.

The TSRTC employees are on an indefinite strike since the 5th of October and the strike entered its 36th day on the 9th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
