Mr. Chalimeda Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, a leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) is set to quit the party and join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana.

The INC senior leader of Karimnagar Assembly constituency decided to shift his loyalties after he lost the MLA seat against the TRS in 2020.  The decision came as a major drawback to the INC, especially when the State is expected to conduct a by election for Vemulawada Assembly constituency.  It is to be noted, a case regarding the citizenship of the Vemulawada MLA Ramesh Babu is pending with the Telangana High Court (HC.)  If the court announces its judgement, there would be a by poll for Vemulawada constituency.

Meanwhile, after joining the TRS, Mr. Lakshmi Narasimha Rao is likely to get the TRS MLA ticket for Vemulawada constituency, if by polls are conducted.

Mr. Lakshmi Narasimha Rao is likely to join the TRS under the leadership of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 8th of December.  However, an official announcement regarding the same is expected soon.
