The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,) on the 10th of January, Monday, issued a yellow alert in Telangana.

The IMD predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in several districts of Telangana. Starting from the 11th of January, the predicted rainfall would continue till the 13th to the 14th of January.

In addition, a yellow alert has been issued to six districts of Telangana. The six districts are Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda and Suryapet

The IMD bulletin read, “The confluence of winds from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal at lower tropospheric levels is very likely over the east and adjoining central India during next 4-5 days. Under the influence of above systems, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall/snowfall is very likely over Western Himalayan Region till Tuesday and there would be dry weather for subsequent 3-4 days.”

In addition, as per the IMD, districts like Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, Rajanna Sircilla, Jangaon, Karimnagar and Yadadri are expected to witness heavy to moderate rainfall. In addition, Hyderabad too may witness the rainfall along with thunderstorms. Districts like Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial and Peddapalli districts may witness hailstorm on the 12th of January.

Besides Telangana, rainfall and thunderstorms are also expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next 2 to 3 days.
