The Hyderabad Traffic Police registered approximatey 50,000 cases against individuals for violating lockdown guidelines and traffic rules in the City.

The registered complaints were from only last week, from the 25th of March, when the lockdown was implemented as a preventive measure against the Novel Coronavirus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 24th of March, addressed the nation over the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 and imposed the lockdown.

The Telangana State Police, deployed a team of traffic police at every check point and highways.

In the past week, nearly 4,700 cases were registered  under the traffic rules violation and approximately 1,100 vehicles were detained by the traffic police teams.

Anil Kumar, the Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad Traffic Police, said the registered cases are not only of lockdown violations but also traffic rules violation cases. 

Mr. Kumar said,“In cases where vehicles are seized, the owners will have to appear before the court.”

Till the 30th of March, the State Government, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) reported 70 active cases of COVID-19 in the State.  On the other hand, 11 cases, which were reported negative in the latest COVID-19 test, were discharged today.
