Nida Adeel from Hyderabad on Wednesday emerged as the winner of the ninth season of the Classmate Spell Bee competition. The contest sponsored by Times NIE and Radio Mirch saw the girl of Delhi Public School become the winner of the semis and enter the finale.

The competition witnessed active participation of young students spellers from across the city. The first phase was on ground exercise and conducted for 112 schools in Hyderabad city limits. Children took spelling tests for this phase after which the top 15 scorers of each school participated in the city finale. The top scorers from the city finale then competed in the semi finale of the competition, in which Adeel came out as the winner.

The girl is now all set to compete in the National finale of the spell bee competition. This finale will witness 16 top scorers of different states and 30 cities to win a prize of Rs. 2 Lakhs and also be a witness to the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee competition that will be held in Washington DC, USA. The trip, where a parent can accompany the child will be sponsored entirely by the competition organizers.

Also, the four semi finalists will win a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. This competition will be telecast on national TV on The Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, and Discovery Tamil.
