The Returning Officer (RO) for the Huzurabad Assembly constituency, rejected the nominations of Mr. Eatala Rajender’s namesake.

Three other candidates with names E. Rajender filed their nomination to contest the Huzurabad by election. The three namesakes of the former Health Minister of Telangana Mr. Eatala Rajender are: Mr. Eppalapelli Rajender, an independent candidate, Mr. Esampally Rajender, a supporter of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Mr. Emaddi Rajender, a member of the Republic Party of India (RPI.) The namesakes could be a strategy to confuse voters with the same name, E. Rajender.

The BJP alleged the namesake nominations to be a strategy of the TRS to confuse voters for the Huzurabad by election. With this, there were four people named E. Rajender, for the nomination of the Huzurabad Assembly by election. However, the RO on Monday, the 11th of October, rejected the nomination of Mr. Eppalapelli Rajender. During the scrutiny of nominations for the Huzurabad by election, the RO rejected the entry of Mr. Eppalapelli Rajender. The reason behind rejecting his nomination paper is that they might confuse voters and cause disarray. Besides Mr. Rajender’s nomination, a total of 18 other nominations were rejected by the RO.

It is to be noted, a total of 61 nominations were filed for the MLA seat of the Huzurabad Assembly by election. Of the total 61 nominations, only 42 candidates are now accepted and are in the fray for the Huzurabad Assembly seat.

While the filing of nominations concluded on the 10th of October, withdrawal is scheduled to continue till the 13th of October.
