Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that the BRS government never supplied 24 x7 power for farmers and it is just a publicity stunt. He alleged that Discoms are in a severe debt trap with the untimely decisions taken by the earlier government.

He said that DISCOMS ended in Rs.81,516 crores losses.

Bhatti presented a white paper on the energy department at assembly on Thursday and made key comments. Bhatti alleged that liabilities and debts of the energy department are more than the assets and income generation. He said that the valuation of the energy department fell to negative 30876 crores due to debt burden, Bhatti said.

He asserted that the Congress government will take responsibility for streamlining the energy sector without adding additional burden on consumers. He added that the BRS government failed to strengthen the grid and power generation capacity. Bhatti questioned BRS over its failure in completing the Yadadri power project for the last 8 years. He asserted that the Congress government will give priority to green energy.

Meanwhile, former electricity minister and MLA Jagadeeswar Reddy condemned the statement of Bhatti. Jagadeeswar Reddy said that they worked hard to strengthen the energy sector and at the same time procured assets. He dared the Congress government to explain to people whether it is committed to provide 24 hours free power to farmers.
