The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Lokesh Kumar on the 7th of December, asked the flood victims not to visit Mee Seva centres.

After the completion of the GHMC elections, the flood victim were scheduled to get announced financial assistance of Rs. 10,000.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced the financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 for all the flood affected families.

However, the distribution of the money was kept on hold due to the imposed Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the GHMC election.

Mr. Kumar said that the State Government would deposit the flood assistance directly into the bank accounts of flood victims.   He said, “All those who are eligible for the flood aid will be recognized by GHMC teams who will inspect the flood-affected areas and collect the details of the flood victims. The amount will be credited into the account.”

With the CM’s assurance, all the flood victims were seen turning up to the Mee-Seva centres today to get flood aid.

Mr. Lokesh said the decision to directly deposit the money was taken to avoid long queues and chances of spread of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
