Mr. Butchi Babu, an ex auditor of Ms. K. Kavitha, a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the daughter of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, has been arrested.

On the evening of the 7th of February, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Mr. Butchi Babu in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam case.  As per the CBI source, Mr. Butchi Babu was non cooperation during the investigation and did not show up at the CBI office, following which the CBI nabbed the Telangana based chartered accountant.

As per the CBI, Ms. K. Kavitha, who has been named as one of the accused in the Delhi Liquor Scamthe “South Group” in the case and Mr. Butchi Babu was formerly worked for her as an auditor.  The CBI also said that Mr. Butchi Babu, who was associated with the BRS, played an important role in the formulation and implementation of the now scrapped Delhi Excise Policy.  He also helped the Hyderabad based businessmen to have wholesale and retail licensees and have wrong gains from the policy.

Meanwhile, the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate registered a case against those involved in the Delhi Liquor Scam and are investigating the matter.  As of now, Mr. Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is said to be the prime accused, which formulated the policy and is alleged of having illegal monetary gains.
