Raghunandan Rao, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate won the Dubbaka Assembly by election. 

Mr. Rao is the representative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

After Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Dubbaka passed away, the MLA position fell vacant. Mr. Ramalinga Reddy died of cardiac arrest on the 6th of August at a private hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Due to this, the State Election Commission announced to conduct Dubbaka by election.

The counting of votes was held in 23 rounds at 14 tables.

The three major parties in the by election race are: the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The three candidates of the TRS, the BJP and the INC are Ramalinga Reddy’s wife Solipeta Sujatha Reddy, M. Raghunandan Rao and C. Srinivas Reddy, respectively.

While the TRS secured 61,302 votes, the BJP and the INC secured 62,772 and 21,819 votes respectively. 

The BJP’s candidate Raghunandan Rao won with a majority of 1,472 votes.

Mr. Rao is now the new MLA of the Dubbaka Assembly constituency.
