After the investigation into the death of Dr. D. Preethi, a first year medical student at the Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, the Telanganaa Government took action against the Head of Department (HoD.)

On the 2nd of March, Thursday, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government transferred the HoD Dr. K. Nagarjuna Reddy.  According to sources, Dr. K. Nagarjuna Reddy was transferred as a professor of anaesthesia in the government medical college Bhupalpally, with immediate effect. 

Mr. Sam Rizvi, the Health Secretary of the Telangana Government issued the orders in this effect and asked the Director of Medical Education and the principal of the college to take action. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Preethi’s family demanded action against the HoD alleging that he had not acted on time even after informing about the alleged harassment by the senior doctor S.A. Saif. 

The development came hours after the anti ragging committee of the KMC confirmed harassment by senior S.A Saif, as a major reason behind the suicide of Dr. Preethi.

Notably, on the 23rd of February, a first year student of the KMC, Warangal, Dr. Preethi allegedly commiiited suicide.  She took an injection, which led to serious health precautions and died at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, while undergoing treatment.
