There was panic in Telangana’s Jangaon district and several people complained of nausea and breathing problem allegedly after inhaling chlorine gas that leaked from a cylinder at a water treatment plant. Over 40 people were admitted to hospital and their condition was being monitored.

However, no casualty was reported in the incident.  Getting into the details, the incident took place on Thursday night, the 16th of February, after several people complained of breathlessness, headache and nausea, and were treated with oxygen support and other medical assistance.

A doctor said,”Within 10-15 minutes, people in batches of four-five came to the hospital complaining of breathlessness, nausea and cough. Soon, there were about 10-15 of them complaining of the same symptoms.”

“Upon investigation, we found that there was a leakage in a chlorine gas cylinder set up for water purification in the water tank that supplies water to the town. An official enquiry has been launched into the incident. Were treating the patients and they seem stable for now,” the doctor added.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered and an investigation has been launched.
