Mr. Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana briefed the Central team, which visited the Telugu State of Telangana, to review the rain situation and damages due to the same.

On the 23rd of July, Saturday, the inter-ministerial team led by Mr. Saurav Ray, the Joint Secretary of the Union Home Ministry, came to Hyderabad on the night of the 22nd of July.  The central teams, divided into two, were in Telangana since the 20th of July, and toured many rain hit regions, across the State. 

After visiting the regions, the team held a meeting with Mr. Rahul Bojja, the Secretary of Disaster Management, and reviewed the situation in the State.  Highlighting the division of the teams, one team visited Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Adilabad districts while the other visited Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts. 

After the successful visit, the Telangana Chief Secretary thanked the central team for visiting the state and seeing the damage caused to irrigation projects, roads and damage caused to various departments. 

Furthermore, Mr. Somesh Kumar also complimented the district administration, state government, the National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF teams,)  the Indian Air Force, the Army teams for their coordinated efforts which have resulted in minimal loss of life in spite of heavy rains and floods. 

Meanwhile, based on the field inspection and the inputs received from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the team is scheduled to submit a report to the Central Government for assistance.

Furthermore, the TRS Government has already requested the Centre to provide Rs. 1,000 crores as immediate assistance.  It has also sent a report about the damages, mentioning the losses of Rs. 1,400 crores, in various sectors and departments due to rain.
