Muttaram: In a recent development in Peddapalli district, the construction of a crucial bridge over the Maneru river in the Muttaram area has faced a setback as it collapsed during the midnight hours on Monday. The incident, occurring in the Odedu region of Muttaram mandal, has raised concerns about the infrastructure development in the area.

The bridge project, initiated in 2016, aimed to enhance connectivity between Odedu and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district’s Garmillapalli by spanning the Maneru river. However, ongoing delays attributed to contractor changes and insufficient funds have plagued the project’s progress.

Locals, reliant on this bridge for daily commutes, have been forced to utilize temporary routes while the construction remains incomplete. Fortunately, the collapse occurred during the late hours, averting a potential tragedy. Prompt reporting by residents to local authorities ensured timely intervention.

Criticism has surfaced regarding the quality of construction, underscoring the need for thorough investigation and accountability measures. As authorities assess the situation, residents await updates on the bridge’s reconstruction and the resumption of seamless connectivity in the area.
