Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, the President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM,) opposed the Central Government’s launched “Agnipath” Army recruitment scheme.

On the 17th of June, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi called the Agnipath scheme a ‘wrong decision’ stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have to withdraw the Army recruitment policy, the way he revoked the three farm laws.  Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi said,  “Agnipath scheme is a wrong decision taken by the Government and it is not good for the country at all.  PM Modi thinks that our Navy officers and soldiers are contractual employees or contractual lecturers, but their profession is honorable.”

The AIMIM chief criticized the Prime Minister over the Agnipath scheme, saying that the youth have come out on the roads due to his wrong decision.  Addressing the media, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi said, “The way PM Modi revoked the land and farm laws, he has to take back this (Agnipath Scheme) decision as well for the security and the youth of the country.”  He even took to Twitter and said,  “Sir @PMOIndia Please Stop hiding behind military chiefs, Mr. Modi. Have the guts to take ownership of your reckless decision and face the consequences. The anger of the youth of the country about their future is directed at you and only you.”

On the 14th of June, Tuesday, Mr. Rajnath Singh, the Union Defence Minister of India, launched a new defense recruitment model called the ‘Agnipath.’  The new model was launched after being approved by the Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA,) for the betterment of the armed forces in India.

As per the newly launched Agnipath scheme, young soldiers would be released after four years of service, paving way for the new ones who want to serve the nation in the Indian Army.
