The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) took a dig at the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government over the unemployment issue.

On the 17th of March, Thursday, the TPCC said that approximately 40 lakh people are facing hardships due to unemployment in Telangana.  Concerned about the situation, the Indian National Congress demanded an unemployment emergency in the Telugu State.

Mr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar, the All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) Speaker criticized the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government and said, the Telangana CM should consider concrete interventions to address and resolve the unemployment problem.  He also asked Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, to set up a high level task force with various national level industrialists, academicians, intellectuals, strategists, policy makers to formulate a strategy for the unemployment issue.  Citing a similar situation in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar said, one such task force was formed in Andhra Pradesh to resolve the unemployment issue.  He said, “Since, this is a social issue, an emergency all-party meeting should be held with all political parties.”

The AICC Spokesperson also asked the TRS Government to provide an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,016 a month, as promised in the 2018 assembly elections manifesto by the TRS.  Furthermore, Mr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar said, “Skill Development Centers should be set up in each mandal centre in collaboration with the Central Government and job fairs should be organised in collaboration with private sector companies to provide employment to the youth, employment opportunities and training.”

The Indian National Congress also asked the Telangana Government to implement a statutory Act to ensure that 95% of jobs are reserved for locals in the private sector too.  He also made several other demands, including an ex gratia of Rs 1 crore to the 70 field assistants who died after being dictatorially terminated from the service causing serious distress and also suggested releasing the full salary to them for two years.

The demands were made through a letter, addressed to the Chief Minister of Telangana.  The TRS Government is yet to respond to the demands of the All India Congress Committee’s Speaker on behalf of the INC.
