The All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed Mr. Digvijay Singh, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) unit.

The announcement came on the 20th of December, Tuesday, amid the ongoing political crisis in the Telugu State.  It is to be noted, 13 leaders in the TPCC have announced their resignation to the TPCC led by Mr. A. Revanth Reddy.

The leaders who announced to submit their resignation are Mr. Narender Reddy, Mr. Seethakka, Mr. Vijay Rama Rao, Mr. Erra Shekhar and others.  The said leaders are likely to submit their resignations to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President.  The resignation came as a protest against the migrating of leaders to Congress from other parties, especially the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.). It is to be noted, the opposition from the TPCC leader regarding the migration of political leaders from one party to another is specifically a dig at Mr. A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the TPCC, who shifted to the Congress from the TDP.

Now, to control the situation and ongoing crisis, the AICC appointed Mr. Digvijay Singh to talk to the leaders and ensure no resignation from the Telangana unit of the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The political turmoil in the Telugu State of Telangana came at a time when the State is gearing up for the 2023 Assembly elections.

The major political parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the INC are in the fray for the elections, eyeing Telangana.
