1600 hundred vehicles were seized for drunk driving.

But despite such strict arrangements to prohibit accidents, police reports say that they registered as many as 1,594 drunk driving cases in the three Commissionerates on New Year’s eve in Hyderabad city limits. The Hyderabad Police, Cyberabad Police and Rachakonda Police registered 957, 400 and 237 cases respectively.

All the vehicles were seized on the spot and the Police faced problems– as the vehicles seized were more than the guards present and also there were not enough parking spaces in the civil police and traffic police stations where the vehicles had to be kept.
