Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic apologies for shouting at ball girl

Wimbledon is clearly taking its toll on the players. The matches are getting tougher by the hour as the championship progressing into the quarters. With the dress code controversies, the tightened muscles, heightened emotions, The Wimbledon green courts never witnessed as championship like this before.

During the last match, the World champion Novak Djokovic was the one who fell victim to his pressure of a true Wimbledon game. She barked at the ball girl during the course of the match which left the girl shaken.

Djokovic was initially down 2 sets at the beginning of the match and was in the scare of losing the match. Surprisingly the World number one, came back into the game hard and won it with a tough five set victory after the outburst.

The final set of the match ended up to be the highlight of the tournament so far. Even Novak Djokovic agreed to it. “Obviously, the fifth set today was very frustrating, very tense. I didn’t have basically any chances on his serve until that 11th game when he made two double-faults and I made a couple of good returns from the forehand side. Until the last moment, until the last point, I didn’t know if I was going to win or not,” he said.

Later when asked about the incident, he said that the anger outburst was aimed at himself, although he appeared to be calling for a towel and gesticulating angrily at the ballgirl.

“I’m sorry. There was nothing towards her, maybe she was just afraid of my screaming there. I was pretty close to her. I’m definitely going to try to apologize to her if I did something wrong.”

The top seed said named the match as one of the toughest matches in his Wimbledon career. “I just took out everything I had, not on anybody but me. I was looking at the box, but I was talking to myself ,I was trying to get myself motivated. I was not showing much emotion yesterday. I was just trying to keep it together… sometimes it’s just good to scream and let it all out, because that’s the way I work” he said of Tuesday’s incident.

Anderson’s sheer brilliance in ballistic serves were something else to scream about, the South African blasting 40 aces and serving at speeds of up to 139mph in a match lasting three hours and 47 minutes. “It’s particularly frustrating when you’re playing somebody that serves this well and doesn’t give you any look at the break,” said Djokovic. That statement explains it all.
