On the 11th of August, the Indian Cricket Team won the 2nd One Day International (ODI) match against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, West Indies.

India scored 279 runs and had a loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs, whereas West Indies scored 210 runs and had a loss of 10 wickets after 42 overs.

The ODI was of 50 overs, but due to rainfall, the overs were reduced to 46 overs for West Indies, with a target of 270 runs with the Duckworth Lewis method.  However, the West Indies players were all out after 42 overs and India won the match by 59 runs.

Virat Kohli was the Man of the Match for his stunning performance throughout the ODI.  Virat Kohli scored 120 runs off 125 balls.

Speaking to media, Virat said, “Exactly why we wanted to bat first. In the second innings, we saw how it got more difficult to bat. Knew 270 was going to be challenging. Felt good to get a hundred, especially when the team needed me to do so. It was important to string in as many dot balls as possible as the ball got wet (in the second innings). We felt batting got easy when Nicholas was out there along with Evin. It was about sticking in there and luckily we got it (dismissal) in time. (On Kuldeep’s inclusion) The number of left-handers tempts you to go with a chinaman. (On Shreyas Iyer) Again brilliant. Stepping in, not having played many games in the past. Confident guy, positive body language. After I got out, he got those extra runs.”

Team India won the toss and chose to bat first.

The West Indies Tour 2019 is divided into three formats of cricket, the T20 Internationals, ODI matches and Test matches.  As of now, India is leading, as it won all the 3 T20Is and one ODI match.

The third ODI match is scheduled to be held on the 14th of August.
