Sri Lankan cricketer Dinesh Chandimal scored an unbeaten 206 runs and become the first Sri Lankan to score a double ton against Australia, on the 11th of July, Test match.

On Day 4 of the second Test match between Sri Lanka and Australia, at Galle, the Sri Lankan Player Dinesh Chandimal played his 326-ball innings and scored 16 boundaries and five sixes.  With the power-packed performance of Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lankan squad was bowled out for 554 to lead by 190 runs, on the 11th of July.  

Notably, with 554 runs, the Sri Lanka squad had their second-highest total in a Test innings against Australia.  

Furthermore, on day 4, the match started with Sri Lanka leading by 67 runs, and the overnight pair of Chandimal and Ramesh Mendis consolidated without throwing the initiative away.  It has been a remarkable turnaround for Sri Lanka, which lost by 10 wickets in the first Test before lunch on Day 3.
