According to the most recent sources, Neeraj Chopra, the gold medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, will not compete in the 2022 Commonwealth Games owing to an injury.

Neeraj was India’s greatest chance to win gold at the Birmingham Games, having most recently earned the silver medal at the World Athletics Championship 2022. On the 24th of July, Mr. Neeraj Chopra confirmed that he would be participating in Men’s Javelin Throw event at the Commonwealth Games, scheduled in Birmingham, the United Kingdom.  However, now due to his injuries, he will not be a part of the event.

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Games are scheduled to begin on the 28th of July and would conclude on the 8th of August.  Moreover, the Men’s Javelin Throw event, in which athlete Neeraj Chopra was initially participating is on the 5th of August.

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Neeraj earned the gold medal in the javelin throw competition.
