Kochi: The launch of the Indian Super League team, Kerela Blasters, saw the presence of not only skilled and suave football players but also some of the biggest names in the industry. Sachin Tendulkar, Chiranjeevi and Akkineni Nagarjuna attended the event, fashionably clad, in lungis and Kerela Blaster T Shirts. Also present were the ace producer Allu Aravind and industrialist Nimmagada Prasad who graced the evening.
“Ellavarkum namaskaram,” began the Master Blaster, greeting everyone in Malayalam. “Truly, I’m honoured to be here, to be able to launch this beautiful journey ‘YellowMeKhelo’ again.” Leveraging the local flavour, Mollywood heartthrob Nivin Pauly was unveiled as the team’s youth ambassador.
Once the event was wrapped up, the co-owners and the youth ambassador joined the team, coached by former England and Manchester United winger Steve Coppell, in performing the unique ‘celebration gesture’ devised for the Blasters, in which the right fist punches the open left palm.
