Team India beat West Indies by three runs in the first One Day International (ODI) series, which started on the 22nd of July, Friday.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian Cricket Team scored a stunning 308 runs with 7 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.  While captain Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 99 runs in 97 balls, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 64 and 54 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, team West Indies managed to score 305 runs with 6 wickets, in 50 overs.  Kyle Mayers top scored for the home side with 75 runs, whereas Shamarh Brooks and Brandon King contributed 46 and 54 runs respectively. 

Furthermore, highlighting the schedule of the West Indies-India series, the remaining two ODIs would be played at Queen’s Park Oval after which the teams switch format but stay in Trinidad for the first T20 International at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.
