Mr. Chetan Sharma, the Chairman of Selectors of the India Men’s Senior Team, submitted his resignation, on the 17th of February, Friday.

On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development and said, Mr. Ashish Shelar, the Treasurer of the BCCI, accepted the resignation of Mr. Chetan Sharma.

The BCCI issued an official statement which read, “Yes, Chetan has tendered his resignation to BCCI secretary Jay Shah and his resignation has been accepted.  His position had become untenable after the sting operation.  He resigned voluntarily and wasn’t asked to resign.”

The sudden resignation of Mr. Chetan Sharma is a major setback for the BCCI, which is due to select the Indian squad for the third and fourth Test matches between India and Australia.

The decision comes just days after an explosive sting operation carried out by Zee News Channel, in which Mr. Chetan Sharma made big controversial claims.  He said, that former India Captain Virat Kohli was sacked from One Day International Captaincy, after he announced to step down as the T20 Captain.  Player Hardik Pandya replacing Rohit Sharma as T20I skipper was another decision of the selection committee, Jasprit Bumrah’s injury status is also plotted and Indian cricketers taking fake injections to prove fitness.

With the sudden resignation of Mr. Chetan Sharma, now the Selectors committee of India Men’s Senior team have Former India pacer Salil Ankola, former India batter S.S. Das, former India pacer Subroto Banerjee and former Tamil Nadu batter Sridharan Sharath as four other selectors.
