Harsha Bhogle who has been associated with cricket since mid 80’s will not be a part of 2016 Indian Premier League commentary team, as the BCCI have decided to terminate his contract with out his knowledge.

The 54-year-old has been associated since its start in the year 2008. The shocking decision has been announced as he had conducted the draft auction for this season, featured in the cash-rich league’s promotional videos and even his flight tickets booked by the production house.

BCCI terminates cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle's IPL contract

Bhogle took to social media to express his disappointment at missing out on what he labelled as his ‘favourite tournament’. However, when one of his followers on twitter quizzed him about the reason behind this decision, Bhogle said, “I don’t know. That is the truth”.

Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) Tweeted – Would have been nice to be part of IPL again. Was in fact looking forward to it. Favourite tournament. Hope #IPL is a blockbuster.

However, a senior BCCI official told the media, “when deciding the commentators, we take feedback from everyone. We monitor social media reactions on commentators, and also take inputs from players.”

There have been a lot of speculations about the reason behind the BCCI’s decision one being Amitabh Bachchan’s recent criticism of Indian commentators, which was evidently directed at Bhogle, while the other speculation points towards a heated argument he had with a Nagpur official during the World T20.
