The venue for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Delhi Capitals against the Punjab Kings has been changed. Scheduled on the 20th of April, Wednesday, the IPL match would now be held at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

According to sources, initially, the match was supposed to be held in Pune, but amid the Wuhan virus pandemic, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) the match was shifted.  On the 19th of April, Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement and announced a change of venue, after 5 members of the Delhi Capitals tested positive for the Wuhan virus.  As per the released statement, the decision was taken, “To avoid any further incident due to an undetected case during a long distance bus journey in a closed environment.”

Furthermore, the BCCI in its official mail also listed the names of the five members of the Delhi Capitals contingent, who have tested positive for the Wuhan Virus. The players who tested positive are: Patrick Farhat, Chetan Kumar, Mitchell Marsh, Dr. Abhijit Salvi and Akash Mane.

The BCCI release read, “The COVID positive cases are under isolation and medical observation.  They will be tested on Day 6 and 7 and subject to both the tests being negative they will be re-integrated into the Delhi Capitals bio-secured bubble.  From April 16th onwards, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing procedure.  The 4th round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19th has returned negative.  The Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20th.”

The match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings has been scheduled for the 20th of April at 7:30 P.M.
