The Supreme Court on Monday pronounced its order in the matter of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vs Lodha Committee. The Supreme Court in the pronunciation removed BCCI President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke from their posts. The Court will now appoint administrators. R.M.Lodha is in charge of implementing the reforms made and ensuring that they are followed. All those heads of state associations who previously opposed the Lodha reforms will be removed by the SC too.

Fali Nariman and Gopal Subramanium will now choose the names for the interim committee. It is also speculated that the vice president with the most experience might be elected as the next president of BCCI. The court also issued those BCCI office bearers who are past 70 years of age, those who received nine years extension after retirement and also those who have a criminal record must be removed from their posts.

Sourav Ganguly emerged as a strong contender for replacing BCCI Chief Anurag Thakur.

The board is considering T.C. Matthew (vice-president, West Zone) and Gautam Roy (vice-president, West Zone) for the post of the President of BCCI. Though Dr. G. Gangaraju (vice-president, South Zone), C.K. Khanna (vice-president, Central Zone) and M.L. Nehru (vice-president, North Zone) have adequate experience, they do not qualify because of the new criteria set by the Supreme Court. The officials are confident that these changes will not affect the game of cricket.

The rumors are rife that the former Indian Team Captain, Sourav Ganguly is a front-runner for the post of Anurag Thakur as the BCCI board President. The decision for the interim board members will be taken on January 19.
