Jahangir Sheikh, a member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) was allegedly shot dead in Murshidabad district, West Bengal.

The incident came to light after an officer of Kandi Police Station confirmed the death and said, “Jahangir Sheikh, 40, a panchayat Samiti member of the Trinamool Congress, was shot at by some miscreants on Monday. He died at a nearby hospital.”

According to sources, the incident took place on the 5th of August, when some unidentified men shot Jahangir.  He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died during the treatment, on the 6th of August.

When asked about the reason behind the murder, the Police said the incident may have taken place due to a political issue or a personal enmity.  The reason will be revealed after the investigation.

Although the Kandi Police Station did not receive a complaint regarding the incident, they initiated an investigation.
