On the 31st of December, Friday, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India, started his five day visit to Kerala and Lakshadweep island.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu landed at Kochi Naval Airport, in a special flight, today afternoon. He was welcomed by Kerala Government dignitaries including Industries Minister of Kerala Mr. P. Rajeeve, the Kochin Mayor Mr. M. Anil Kumar, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mr. K.J. Maxi and the Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Antony George. From Kochi, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu is going to visit Lakshadweep island and spend two days there.

The Vice President would be attending several events on the islands of Androth, Kadmat, and Agatti before returning to Kochi on the 2nd of January.

On the 2nd of January, Sunday, at Kochi, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu would pay a visit to the Navy’s soon to be commissioned indigenous aircraft carrier, which is currently undergoing a series of sea trials. In addition, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu would also pay a visit to Kerala’s lone District Revenue Department Office (DRDO) facility and the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory. At the laboratory, he will lay the groundwork for a towed array integration centre.

Later, on the 2nd of January, the Vice President of India is also scheduled to attend a ceremony commemorating Fr Kuriakose Elias Chavara’s 150th death anniversary at Mannanam.

On the 3rd of January, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President would visit Kottayam and from there he would leave for Nagpur, on the 4th of January, 2022.
