On the 8th of November, the Union Health Ministry confirmed that more than 15.6 crores of balanced and unutilised doses of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines are available with the states and the Union Territories (UTs.)

The Central Government has provided over 116 crores vaccine doses to the states and UTs so far. The doses have been given under the Centre’s free of cost channel and direct state procurement category of vaccine doses.

In addition, a total of 23,84,096 vaccine doses have been administered under the mega COVID-19 vaccination drive in the last 24 hours. With this, India administered 108.47 crores COVID-19 doses to the people of India. A total of 11,06,32,907 people above the age of 60 years have been administered with the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine dose and 6,82,87,034 people in this age group have been fully vaccinated.

A total of 1,03,79,606 first and 92,69,660 second doses have been administered to the healthcare workers. Meanwhile, 1,83,72,723 frontline workers got their first dose and 1,60,37,946 others have been fully vaccinated.

In the age group of 18 to 44 years, a total 42,45,43,385 shots of the first dose and 15,14,76,624 of second dose have been administered to the people. A total of 17,63,88,452 first doses and 9,93,34,705 second doses have been administered to the age group of 45 to 59 years old.

In addition, India is expected to soon roll out the vaccination drive for children between 12 to 18 years old. The World Health Organisation (WHO) is expected to examine the two India made vaccines, which are conducting trials for children, following which there would be a vaccine against the Wuhan virus for children too.

Meanwhile, highlighting the state wise data, Uttar Pradesh administered the most (cumulative) vaccine doses at 13.10 crores, followed by Maharashtra at 9.80 crore, West Bengal 7.80 crores, Gujarat at 7.10 crores, Madhya Pradesh 7.10 crore and Bihar 6.80 crores.

After administering 108.47 crore vaccine doses to the people, as of now, more than 15.60 crore COVID-19 vaccines, from the Bharat Biotech International Private Limited’s COVAXIN and the Serum Institute of India (SII) manufactured Covisheild are available in India.

So far, the Central Government provided 116 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to Indian states and union territories (UTs.) More COVID-19 vaccines are in the pipeline, which would be sent to Indian states and union territories (UTs,) to vaccinate the citizens of India.
