The Union External Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar, on the 14th of February, Monday, held bilateral talks with the Philippines Secretary of Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Mr. Teodoro L. Locsin, S. Jaishankar discussed security and health issues along with relation strengthening discussions. 

On Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines took to Twitter and said, “Secretary @teddyboylocsin and Minister @DrSJaishankar are expected to discuss the current robust ties between PH and India as well as future directions of bilateral relations.”

The tweet said, the two officials discussed health and security, as well as other regional and global matters of mutual interest, especially focusing on post Wuhan virus (COVID-19) recovery. 

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India said, “The visit is expected to impart further momentum to bilateral relations with our key partners in the Indo-Pacific, Australia, and the Philippines, which is also a leading member of ASEAN.”

Notably, Mr. S. Jaishankar was on a six day visit to Australia to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting. After the QUAD meeting, Mr. S. Jaishankar visited ASEAN  countries to meet the leaders, enhancing bilateral relations with India.
