Confused by the bizarre scenario Ms. Yadav went to the bank to get the clarification on the confusing episode. But what she witnessed there is even bigger shock than before the issue, but a greater shock was in order for her when she checked her account. A sum of Rs 95,71,16,98,647.14, popped up as her balance.

Th reason behind the goof up was  identified as a result of a process undertaken to freeze her dormant account by the bank itself. Yadav’s account was dormant for some time as she had not maintained the adequate balance required to keep it going, reports the Daily Star. As a part of the process, the bank credited a made up figure and then deducted it.

But this credit and debit to Yadav’s account might not have been in line with the official procedures. “Rules bar banks from crediting and debiting any sum without the consent of the account holder,” HT reports Abhishek Gupta, a chartered accountant, saying.

When asked about the entire episode, Ms. Yadav said that all she wants is her Rs 2000 safe with the bank.
