The Tamil Nadu police till the 12th of August, filed as many as 9.5 lakh cases against the violatrrs of lockdown and traffic rules. 

According to sources, from the 24th of March, since the lockdown was imposed till the 11th of August, there were 9,57,743 cases. 

The Tamil Nadu police arrested 8,67,158 for lockdown violation and remaining for traffic rules violation.

The Tamil Nadu police seized 6,77,629 vehicles and collected a fine amount of more than Rs. 20 crores. 

Meanwhile, with 5,871 cases, Tamil Nadu reported 3,14,520 positive cases.  Of the total 52,929 are active cases, 2,56,313 are recovered or discharged cases and 5,278 are deceased. 

Tamil Nadu is also one of the Indian States with fast growth of the Novel Coronavirus cases. 

In terms of the active cases, the State stands on 4th position.  The other states are MahaKarnatakrashtra (1,48,553,) Andhra Pradesh (90, 425) and Karnataka (79, 605.)
