The Tamil Nadu Government on the 8th of May, announced to resume films post production work from the 11th of May.

K. Palaniswami, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, allowed organisations involved in film post production work to resume with minimum staff, following social distancing norms.

The Tamil Nadu Government released an official statement regarding the same.  In the statement, the Government said for the past 50 days no work had been carried out due to COVID-19 lockdown.

The nation wide lockdown since the 24th of March,raised questions  on the livelihood of people, especially daily wages workers in several industries, including the film industry.

The decision to resume post production work was announced after several movie and television serial producers requested the Government seeking post production work permission.

Considering the request, the Government allowed post production works such as editing (maximum 5 workers,) dubbing (5,) computer and visual graphics (10-15,) re-recording (5,) sound design/ mixing (5) and digital intermediate (5.)

However, to start  functioning, production houses need to get the necessary permissions from the Tamil Nadu Government with the details of all the workers on particular projects.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu recorded a total of 5,409 cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 37 fatalities, as of the 8th of May.
