Taj Hotels Of Mumbai Gets Threat Call From LeT

On the 30th of June, two Taj hotels in Mumbai got threat calls from ‘Lashkar eTaiba, a militant organisation based in Pakistan.

After the threat call, the Mumbai Police has beefed up its security detail at two Taj properties, Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel at Colaba and Taj Lands End at Bandra (West.)

The threat call came around 12:30 A.M., on the 30th of June. 

The LeT call came after four security personnel of the Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi were gunned down by four terrorists on the 29th of June. 

A Mumbai Police official, who wished to be anonymous, said, the hotel authorities received the threat calls and security has been intensified at the properties.

Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), counter-terrorism units and others were also deployed at both the hotels.

According to sources, claimed to be a LeT member issued a threat of blowing up the hotel in a similar manner happened, in November 26, 2008.

Later, a similar call was made to the Bandra (West) property.

Mumbai police is investigating the matter.  Initial investigation revealed the calls were made from a single number. 

The number is being investigated by a team of cyber cell. 

Both the hotels are shut because of the raging coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak but security has been beefed up to prevent any untoward incident. 

Meanwhile, Mumbai recorded a total of 1,69,883 cases of the Novel Coronavirus.
