BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging for the immediate termination of Reserve Bank of India, Governor Raghuram Rajan, alleging that he was “mentally not fully Indian” and has “wilfully” wrecked the economy.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP had blamed Rajan for the rising inflation and rapidly increase of unemployment, he further added that he should be sent back to Chicage.
“The reason why I recommend this is that I am shocked by the willful and apparently deliberate attempt by Dr Rajan to wreck the Indian economy,” he wrote adding his concept of raising interest rates to contain inflation was “disastrous,” Swamy wrote.
Swamy also reportedly said Rajan is in this country on a Green Card and “therefore mentally not fully Indian.” Rajan’s tenure comes to an end in September this year.
