On the 28th of August, six opposition ruled state governments moved the Supreme Court against the conduct of two major entrance exams. 

The National Test Agency (NTA) announced the schedule of the Joint Entrance Exams (JEE) Mains and National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) examinations amid the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Opposing the conduct of exams, governments of West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra and Jharkhand moved the Apex Court.

The decision to move the SC was taken during an open meeting conducted by Sonia Gandhi, the interim President of the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, proposed to approach the Supreme Court. All the six state governments filed a joint petition against the JEE Mains and NEET.

On the 17th of August, the NTA announced a detailed guidelines of the exams and schedule.

The JEE Mains are scheduled from the 1st of September to the 6th of September, whereas NEET exam is scheduled on the 13th of September.
