New Delhi: A soldier was found alive in a critical condition after being buried for nearly 6 days under 25 feet of snow following the avalanche February 3 on the Siachen glacier. After the avalanche, five bodies of soldiers have been recovered and remaining four have been located. However, efforts are underway to recover them.
On February 3, 10 soldiers of Indian army were hit by an avalanche at an altitude of 19,600 feet.
“Lance Naik Hanamanthappa has been found alive. He is critical but all attempts are being made to evacuate him to RR hospital in the morning. We hope the miracle continues. Pray with us,” said Army Commander Northern Command Lt. Gen. D.S. Hooda.
