Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathan is the biggest opener of Bollywood in 2023, as on day 1, the Siddharth Anand film recorded an opening of Rs. 55 crores.

After the flop movie Zero, this is the grand comeback of Shah Rukh Khan with Pathaan. The film was released on the 25th of January, across 8,000 screens worldwide.

In the first day domestic collections, excluding taxes (that is, net collections,) have come in at Rs. 55 crores, the highest for a Hindi movie.  Together with its Telugu and Tamil dubs, the movie has raked in Rs. 57 crores in the first day collections in India, said Yash Raj Films.  In addition, the worldwide gross collections crossed Rs. 100 crores on Day One.

The YRF said, “For Pathaan to shatter records on a non-holiday, just proves that the theatrical business is here to stay, provided we make films that entice people to come to the cinemas to witness a never seen before experience that entertains them thoroughly.” said Akshaye Widhani, Chief Executive Officer, YRF.

As per trends and suggestions, Pathan is estimated to cross Rs. 200 crores mark over the weekend and is likely to enter the Rs. 300 crores club in the span of one week.
