The Supreme Court (SC) dismissed the plea filed by oppositions against the misuse of the central agencies.

Notably, on the 5th of April, Wednesday, the Top Court bench rejected to entertain the plea filed by 14 opposition parties, demanding action against arrest and remand of politicians. Led by the Indian National Congress (INC,) 14 other anti Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parties filed the plea in the Apex Court earlier.

However, the SC bench in the hearing said, “Laying down general guidelines without having relation to facts of case will be dangerous. We can’t make separate guidelines for politicians.”

Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud said, “Politicians are citizens and can’t enjoy any higher protection.”

After the judgement, the fourteen parties led by the INC withdrew the petition, seeking a separate guidelines to deal with the central agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED.)
