Adding another feather to the hat, the S.S. Rajamouli directed RRR won the Oscars 2023, for the best original song category.

It is to be noted, the Natu Natu (Nacho Nacho) song of RRR has been nominated as the best original song in the Oscar 2023.  Now the RRR team won the award, making India proud.

On the 13th of March, the jury of the 95th Academy Awards, Oscars 2023 announced “Natu Natu” as the best original song.  Furthermore, at the Oscars event, a recreation of the energetic song Natu Natu, was performed and received a standing ovation from the audience.  Mr. S.S. Rajamouli and RRR leads Ram Charan, Jr. NTR received the award.

With the S.S. Rajamouli directed RRR win, India won an Oscar in music nomination, after 14 years.  It was in 2009 when India last won an Oscar for a film’s music.  Composer A.R. Rahman won the best original song and best original score for the song Jai Ho from the film Slumdog Millionaire, released in 2008.

Naatu Naatu beat a slate of heavy-weight competitors – Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Applause from Tell It Like A Woman.

Besides this, Indian film The Elephant Whisperers won Best Documentary Short Subject at Oscars, which is the second win of the nation.

RRR, set in British India, has won hearts across the world – it’s running to full houses in Japan and recently held its largest screening yet in a Los Angeles cinema where the audience danced along to Naatu Naatu. The song, filmed outside the Presidential Palace in pre-war Kyiv, Ukraine, is an infectious dance battle between Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s characters, Raju and Bheem, versus their British counterparts. Raju and Bheem are the last men standing, sorry dancing, after their complicated routine bests their opponents.
