Puducherry reported two cases of Omicron, the new variant of the Wuhan virus (COVID-19.)

On the 28th of December, Tuesday, the Health Director of the Union Territory (UT) Dr. G. Sriramulu confirmed the two new cases.  According to the Health Department, a 20 year old woman and a 80 year old man were reported positive for Omicron, after conducting genome sequencing tests. 

It is to be noted, the details of how the two patients got Omicron virus are awaited, as they have no travel history and did not come in contact with anyone who traveled.

Mr. G. Sriramulu said, “Health department personnel visited the areas from where the two patients hailed and are trying to find out whether they had a contact history.”

As per sources, they said to have Omicron infection on the 7th of December, without any information for the health authority. As of now, they are said to be recovered, there samples have been re collected for genome sequencing.
